  • Rough Gem

Sometimes I wonder whether it's better to get your hopes up and get excited about something, or just destroy it straight away.  Probably the latter, because then you have time to sort something else out that could be good.

So, now I just need to find a new football team to root for, or maybe a new sport to like, or a hobby like knitting sweaters for the homeless.

Simultaneous disaster for the Dallas Cowboys, and my fantasy team Nuclear Winter.  Oh well, thinking about it more, it's actually more fulfilling to start off badly and then end up winning in the end.  Of course, that's under the premise that you do end up coming through in the long run.  Think Zenyatta at the Breeder's Cup last year.

The same has been true for years, and it only becomes more intense, that when the Cowboys lose it monkey-wrenches my whole weekly routine (which is largely based on watching sports all the time).

But, maybe the trick is to just embrace the failure and analyse it and learn from it rather than trying to push it out of your head.  I don't know, I'm rambling.  Being awake at 4:20am may have that effect on me.
